Atis Artemjevs

The Atis Artemjevs showroom, located in South Kensington, London, was designed by planBstudio as a timeless capsule. The project links the concept of absolute space with a total black look. Black spreads throughout the environment, on the wood flooring, on the glass cladded walls, and finally on the ceiling paneled with a thermoformed vinyl film.

The custom-made furnishings were designed to direct attention towards the clothes and accessories. The essential aesthetic and the materials chosen, create an effect of suspension. On one side, light beams coming from a group of spotlights lodged in the ceiling orchestrate the darkness by clashing on the glossy black surfaces or the displays’ transparent glass. On the other, LED lights placed inside the structures emerge through white methacrylate panels. Lighting magnifies the black cube’ s visual effect, however, bringing into focus the garments and objects on display.
